Road To Wimbledon 2019

Five Perran Tennis members qualified for the County finals of this Under 14 competition – Martha, Archie, Will, Guy and new member Annie. All five players competed well. Martha and Annie contested the girls final, Archie lost in the third/fourth play off with Will losing in the quarter finals. Guy playing in his first tournament outside of club tennis acquitted himself well.

The winners of this county event go forward to a week’s tennis at Wimbledon! Also, the runners-up get the opportunity for a day’s coaching at The All England Club.

In a keenly awaited girl’s final Annie took the first set. Martha gained a good advantage in the second set, unfortunately Martha sustained an injury to her ankle just as the tie-break was on the horizon. Annie took full advantage and played well with Martha unable to take any further games.
