Playing Tennis in Perranporth on Holiday: Pay & Play and Visitor Membership

If you’re staying in Perranporth and fancy a game of tennis, you don’t need to be a member of Perran Tennis Club to play. Our Pay & Play system was a real success this summer, with visitors ranging from local players to holidaymakers, and overall court usage was up on last year. Here’s everything you need to know.

Pay & Play on our grass courts

During the summer grass court season, non-members can book any of our six grass courts for £10 per court per hour. It’s one of the best-value ways to play tennis in Cornwall, and there’s something special about a game on grass.

Everything is booked and paid for online:

  1. Download the ClubSpark Booker app from the App Store or Google Play and create a free account.
  2. Choose Perran Tennis and tap Make a booking. As a non-member you’ll see the grass courts and their prices.
  3. Pick a time. Courts can start on the hour or the half hour, and the minimum booking is one hour.
  4. Pay in the app (Apple Pay is available). You’ll get instant confirmation by email.

Non-members can book up to five days ahead. If your plans change, please cancel in the app so someone else can use the court.

Please wear tennis or training shoes to protect the grass. And do expect the odd unpredictable bounce, which is all part of the charm.

14-day holiday membership

If you’re a keen player staying a little longer, our 14-day membership gives you member benefits for the length of your visit. You can join in our club sessions and book the hard courts with member booking privileges.

  • Adult – £25
  • Junior – £10

We introduced this option this summer after requests from experienced visiting players. Six visitors chose it in its first season, and we hope to see some of them again.

Playing with a friend who’s a member

If you know a Perran member, they can add you to their booking as a guest and pay the guest fee (from £5) in the app. A guest can play up to three times this way, and can use Pay & Play in their own app as often as they like.

When can visitors play?

Our grass courts usually open in April and stay open until late September, depending on the weather. This year they closed for winter maintenance on 20 September, and Pay & Play will be back when they reopen next spring. Pay & Play is for the grass courts only, so non-members can’t book the hard courts over the winter. Our 14-day membership is available all year round, though. If you’re visiting Perranporth in the autumn or winter, you can still join our club sessions and book the floodlit hard courts.
