Perran Tennis Triumphs at the Cornwall County Championships 2023

The Cornwall County Championships of 2023 witnessed remarkable achievements by seven of our talented junior players

Among them were the dynamic duo of brothers, Archie and Oliver Mallett, Wilfy and Buzz Bottrell, Max and Alfie Vian, and the promising Evan Fleet.

These young athletes have demonstrated exceptional talent, commitment, and sportsmanship, and we couldn’t be prouder of their achievements at the Cornwall County Championships in 2023. Their success is a testament to their hard work and the support of our tennis community.

Archie Mallett – Men’s Singles Cornwall County Champion 2023

From the age of eight Archie has represented Cornwall across all age groups. Now, at the age of sixteen and having recently completed his LTA level 1 coaching qualification, Archie displayed unwavering determination as he battled through three intense matches to claim the coveted title of Men’s County Champion for 2023.

Oliver Mallett

Singles

Archie’s younger brother Oliver has represented Cornwall a number of times and had an action-packed week, securing the runner-up position in both the under 10s and under 11s singles.

Doubles

Oliver added to his accomplishments by clinching victory in both the under 10s (with Evan) and under 11s (with Zac) doubles events.

Evan Fleet

Evan who has also represented Cornwall a number of times, teamed up with Oliver to form a winning partnership, capturing the under 10s doubles title in an impressive display of teamwork and skill.

Max & Alfie Vian

Max exhibited his competitive spirit in both the under 10s singles and under 10s doubles competitions, showcasing his dedication to the sport.

In the spirited atmosphere of the under 8’s red ball competition, Alfie not only gave his all but also had a blast on the court, epitomizing the joy of playing tennis at a young age.

Wilfy and Buzz Bottrell

Brothers Wilfy and Buzz Bottrell, both entered a number of singles and doubles in this year’s championship. Buzz emerged victorious in the U18’s mixed doubles with his playing partner Freya, while Wilfy & Henry showcased their talents by securing the runner-up spot in the U12’s boys’ doubles event.
