Perran Tennis Junior Tennis Tournament

Perran Tennis Junior Tennis Tournament

Eighteen players took place in the first of three junior tennis tournaments for emerging competitors on Friday. Ages ranged from nine to fifteen, some sampling competitive tennis for the first time. Every junior player took part in six rounds of continuous match play. This enabled less experienced players to compete with and against juniors with a match background.

The results were extremely close with five points separating the eighteen participants. In the boy’s section Ben Bradley was placed runner-up with twenty-eight points, just half a point behind the eventual winner Vince Marney. The girls section was equally close. Annabelle Duncan scoring twenty-seven points in her first tournament took the runner-up slot, whilst Martha Marney won the girls title with twenty-eight and half points. Medals were presented to Ben, Vince, Annabelle and Martha by Club President Dave Pell.

Two further tournaments will be held on Friday 10th August and 24th August (2-4.30pm). These events are open to any junior who wishes to experience match play. Further details – contact Club Coach Steve Luck on 07860 446209.
