Perran Tennis hosts Schools Event

Perran Tennis hosted their annual inter primary school’s tournament last Friday afternoon. Teams from Mithian, Perranporth, Goonhavern and St Newlyn East competed in non-stop tennis for two and a half hours in very warm conditions. Each team consisted of three pairs, each pair played nine matches. Players were able to sample grass court tennis during Wimbledon fortnight!

Four players caught the eye – Archie from Mithian, Vince from Goonhavern, Barney from St Newlyn East and Gwen from Perranporth. Following the fifty-four matches played Perranporth were placed fourth with 130 points. The Runners-up slot was closely contested with Goonhavern eventually taking second place with 219 points to St Newlyn East’s 188 points. The eventual winners – Mithian were worthy winners accumulating a massive 324 points.

Medals were presented by Club President Dave Pell to the Mithian and Goonhavern teams.
