Oct 2013 – Newquay Away

Perran Tennis return to League Action
Oct 2013

Perran Tennis are once again competitive in the Cornwall League. Having entered a mixed side their first competitive match for decades took place at Newquay Heron last Sunday. The team was made up of James Betty (capt), Steve Hawken, Sheona Burns and Kate Coles.

The format was two mixed matches and one ladies and one men’s. After the two mixed games it was even with Steve and Sheona winning their mixed tie. James and Steve won their men’s tie, whilst the girls lost. Overall Perran Tennis lost by 4 sets to 6 (8 points to four as a win gains an extra 2 points).

James and Kate went so close, being 4.1 up in the first set and 5.2 in the second set. So overall it was a close fought contest and enjoyed by all, especially by the girls as it was their first league match ever!

James intends to give as many players a match as possible in preparation for entry into the men’s and ladies summer leagues. Perran Tennis are home to Truro next weekend.
