Perran Tennis Final Junior Comp

Last Friday saw Perran Tennis hold the fifth and final junior match play competition of the summer holidays. Bathed in sunshine the grass courts were awash with close contests. Six rounds of doubles and singles were played out in a version of fast four adopted by Perran Tennis. Four games with sudden death deuce featuring a tie-break if tied at two all proved to be a popular format.

This week players were allowed to choose partners, opponents and any handicap – this worked exceptionally well as many matches were closely contested. Morgan Stevens and Matt Legg tied in third place with 13.5 points, Vince Marney was runner-up with fifteen points. Previous winner, Samuel Legg took top slot with a fine score of eighteen points. Martha Marney took the runners-up place in the girl’s section with thirteen points, but it was last week’s winner Maddi Pippin who came through with fifteen points to take the medal. The medals were presented by Dave Pell, Club President. Next up for Perran Juniors will be the age group club singles championships on September 17th.
